A new Employment Regulation Order (ERO) for the security industry came into effect on the 22 July 2025. From the 22 July 2025, the minimum rate of pay for security guards will increase from €14.50 to €15.41 per hour.

Licensing of Supplier or Installer of Safes
The Private Security Authority (PSA) has today announced that, with effect from 30 May 2025, contractors providing security services as a supplier or installer of safes will require a PSA licence.
PSA Prosecutes Unlicensed Security Guard
On the 21 March 2025 Mr Andre Walsh of Phibsboro, Dublin 7 appeared before Judge Monika Leech in Dublin District Court and pleaded guilty to 11 breaches of the Private Security Services Act.
