The following Statutory Instruments have been made in accordance with the Private Security Services Act 2004, as amended.

S.I. No. 134/2025 - Private Security (Licensing, Standards and Fees) (Supplier or Installer of Safes) Regulations 2025

The Private Security (Licensing, Standards & Fees) Regulations 2025 provide for the licensing of contractors providing security services in the Supplier or Installer of Safes sectors.

S.I. No. 322/2018 - Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Cash in Transit) (Amendment) Regulations 2018

These Regulations amend Regulation 5 of the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Cash in Transit) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 857 of 2007).

S.I. No. 54/2018 - Private Security (Licensing and Training)(Security Guard (Monitoring Centre))

The Private Security (Licensing and Training) (Security Guard (Monitoring Centres)) Regulations 2018 provide for the licensing of individuals who are employed to perform certain security services in the security guard monitoring sector and it also provides for the training to be undertaken by them.

S.I. No. 343/2016 - Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Locksmith) Regulations 2016.

The Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Locksmith) Regulations 2016 provides for the Private Security Authority (PSA) to commence licensing, from 1 October 2016, private security employers and independent contractors who engage in the provision of locksmith services. These Regulations also prescribe the standards which locksmiths will need to comply with when providing such services, i.e. PSA Licensing Requirements — Locksmith (PSA 55:2016).

S.I. No. 362/2015 - Private Security (Licence Fees) Regulations 2015.

These Regulations provide that the duration of a licence granted (to an individual) on or after 1st December 2015 will be for a period of 3 years. The Regulations also prescribe the revised licence fees applicable.

S.I. No. 195/2015 - Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Private Investigator) Regulations 2015.

These Regulations amend the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) Regulations 2012 (S.I. 144/2012) and prescribe categories of licence and the standards to be observed by licensees in the provision of security services.

S.I. No. 67/2015 - Private Security (Refund of Fees) Regulations 2015.

These Regulations provide for a refund of the turnover fee, payable at the appropriate percentage of the turnover fee, in the event that the holder of a valid licence ceases to provide a security service and the licence is returned to the Authority.

S.I. No. 537/2014 - Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Cash In Transit) (Amendment) Regulations 2014.

These Regulations amend Regulation 3 (in part) and Regulation 6 of the Private Security (Licensing and Standards)(Cash in Transit) Regulations 2007 (S.I. 857 of 2007).

S.I. No. 302/2014 — Private Security (Licensing and Standards) (Event Security) Regulations 2014.

These Regulations amend the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) Regulations 2012 (S.I. No. 144/2012) and prescribe categories of licence and the standards to be observed by licensees in the provision of security services.

These Regulations amend the Private Security (Licensing and Standards) Regulations 2012 (S.I. No. 144/2012) and prescribe categories of licence and the standards to be observed by licensees in the provision of security services.

S.I. No. 293/2013 — Private Security (Licence Fees) Regulations 2013.

These Regulations amend Regulation 3 of the Private Security (Licensing and Qualifications) Regulations 2006 (S.I. No. 468/2006), revoke S.I. 835/2006 and prescribe the fees payable by private security contractors.

S.I. No. 484/2012 — Private Security (Licensing and Training) (Provider of Protected Forms of Transport) (Cash-in-Transit) Regulations 2012.

These Regulations provide for the issue of licences to individuals who are employed to perform certain security services in the cash-in-transit sector and the training required.

S.I. No. 147/2012 — Private Security (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2012.

These Regulations revoke S.I. 152/2006, S.I. 469/2006 and S.I. 19/2008 and prescribe the forms of application for a licence, the categories persons prescribed for witnessing of signatures, the format of licence, temporary licence and identity card, the particulars to be included in the register, procedures for the surrender of licences, procedures for the notification of convictions and changes in certain particulars.
